Repeaters
FUBAR maintains 3 repeater systems. The 224.360 system is one of the widest coverage systems in
the West Suburban Chicago area on the 220 band. The FUBAR system is linked to the Indian Hill
Amateur Radio Club (IHARC) 2 Meter and 440 systems. The Repeater ID's are under the Lucent club
call
WA9WSL. The IHARC repeaters are maintained by Lucent employees and are OPEN repeater
systems for area Amateurs to use.

The FUBAR 220 Repeater has been in operation since 1985 when Don Dalton, W9US SK purchased
the repeater from Joe Fisher, W9JTD. Joe was the owner of TransCom a manufacturer of PL Tone
Encoder/Decoder boards and friends with Don.

Don Dalton was one Founding Fathers and first President of the
Bolingbrook Amateur Radio
Society
.
Many of the BARS Club Members helped with building, maintaining and became FUBAR
Members as well. Some of the older and Life BARS Members still use FUBAR today! Don started "The
Fraternally United Brotherhood of Amateur Radio" (Bill decided we change the Brotherhood to
Brethren since Don's passing) mainly to get the system on the air when the FCC considered taking
part of the 220 band because it was under utilized. The BARS Club also put up a 220 system to show
support in favor of keeping the 5 MHZ spectrum. Ultimately Amateurs lost the bottom 2 MHZ anyway.
Bill, WB9QXJ took over FUBAR before Don, W9US became a Silent Key November 2, 2009.
